As most will probably have predicted the first band to be announced for this year’s biggest UK festival Download Festival is Slipknot. No surprises there. After having blown the lid off the mainstream with their painfully honest latest addition to their discography .5: The Gray Chapter. Along with wowing audiences all over the world with the stream of the entire set of Gray Chapter Slipknot at their own festival Knotfest. As much as Slipknot have played Download with this being their sixth appearance at the festival and their third headlining show they will always put on a good show. The support however are very predictable and begs the question has Download properly now sold out? Essentially rehashing the same line ups of previous shows with the “they’ll do” Black Stone Cherry, Five Finger Death Punch and Judas Priest. All I’m saying is that surely every year should be memorable for its different and sometimes daring line ups? Not just recreating the same thing, otherwise what’s the point…
