A mainstay in the ever evolving world of Metal, Thrash has very much, belligerently stuck to its roots. Inspired by the atrocities committed by the common man, war is a central theme to the genre. With time being it’s ally War adapts to the use of technology often to devastating effect. Releasing their brand new album Woe To The Vanquished, Warbringer explore these themes and more but when I sat down with John Kevill I certainly got more than just a history lesson! 

Kicking things off with a question regarding Wilfred Owen, a celebrated war poet whose work was published posthumously in 1918, Kevill’s excitement is simply tangible. Pulling free this wedge immediately a deluge of passion and knowledge immerses our section of the tour bus. Four years in the making, Warbringer are at last getting where they want to be. Not after a serious amount of hard work mind! Performing tonight at a packed out London Underworld on their final UK date of the run.  Unveiling their deceptively deadly new record, the band would prove to release their most expansive yet. Featuring the scorching of “Silhouettes“, “Shellfire” their fastest track to date and the monstrous eleven minute wonder inspiring my Owen inquisition “When The Guns Fell Silent“. I thought to pick Kevill’s brain regarding history and if there might be a hint of passion there. Boy was I in for a treat!
