After debuting their first single in five years Meshuggah naturally rattled the world’s foundations as the emotionless beast had been well and truly awakened. Now we get to find out more about the album’s lyrical thematics from none other than Tomas Haake.
Based on the Goya painting “The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters” the band have decided to head into the modern day with the thematics on their brand new album. Very much pointing the finger at modern day humanity the band are looking to each one of us and stating that we are actually asleep metaphorically, unknowingly destroying our planet in our slumber.
See the video for a more eloquent take on the meaning behind the album from Haake himself in anticipation of the new record’s release October 7th via Nuclear Blast.
