Moving with the ages since the Judgement Day style Cold War prophecies to the modern day technology dominant drone warfare. Turning this idea of weaponry on its head German thrash pioneers Destruction instead point the finger at humanity to show Earth is in fact Under Attack from us.

Setting the pace title track “Under Attack” ensures that fans are well within their comfort zone after a small introductory acoustic section rekindling the nineties sound before gearing up the headbanging the band are known for. Given the point in their career Destruction are ripe with energy, keeping spirits topped up with the ripping “Dethroned” featuring a mid paced yet anvil heavy choruse whose vocal hooks mercilessly bring you along for the ride before the arrival of twin guitar trade offs. Special mention should go to Scheimer’s clean tones, instantly bringing back to the hey day of nineties. The production follows a similar suit, being polished wiki up sounding crystal clear giving a vintage effect particularly “Getting Used To The Evil“.
For those that might think that the band had begun to slow down speed is still part of Destruction’s armory as you might expect. “Elegant Pigs” conjures up all manner of maelstroms whilst not sacrificing songwriting for speed. Lyrically the album tackles all manner of issues, though one perhaps most poignant in the digital age “Second To None“, dealing with online bullying the song works well coupled with the fast riffing morphing into another well thought out chorus.
Not known for its manner of experimentation Thrash as a genre celebrates the old. With Under Attack the onslaught is unrelenting right up until the final notes of “Stigmatized” the band never let up. Fans of the genre will no doubt lap up Destruction’s latest offering, crafting a rock solid album the band re-emerge triumphant adressing current world problems with a vintage spin Under Attack is an album that condemns technology and like its sound goes back to basics.
