The wait is finally over, Gorguts mark their return with a forthcoming EP entitled Pelaides’ Dust.
After their conceptual tour de force that was Colored Sands and one of my personal favourites of the year, at last Gorguts will release brand new material. Stating that they will be unveiling a brand new EP which will be one song with a total length of thirty three minutes. Constantly challenging the Death a Metal blueprint Gorguts are truly the pioneers of this avant garde descent into the abyss.
As with previous effort Pleiades’ Dust follows a concept. Revolving around an ancient library that was located in in the heart of Baghdad known as The House of Wisdom. Known for its limitless discoveries in science the House of Wisdom is the album’s focal point. Set between the 8th and 13th century the library saw many huge discoveries from the understanding of algebra to astronomy. It was largely due to these discoveries that we were able to have this Renaissance period. Understandable that Lemay would choose this after the philosophical inquisitiveness that was Colored Sands exploring Tibet. The EP will follow a narrative of and will be split into smaller segments, of which one is available to listen to right now.
Not only is the music key but the EP’s artwork, created by Polish artist Zbigniew M. Bielak, who you may recognise from his work with Ghost on their fantastic artwork for Meliora as well as Icelandic newcomers Zhrine.
