It’s no secret that Metal is more accepted in certain countries. For whatever reason much of the powers that be aim to quash what is seen as the rebellion with media in China being censored for example, bands such as Cannibal Corpse have been banned from Russia and now it gets even worse. 

A small Iranian band called Confess were recently getting the ball rolling with their band. Formed of tow members Siyanor [-13] and DJ Chemical the band have been shut down by Iranian military The Army Guardians of The Islamic Revolution. Commandeering their Facebook page and emails all activity within the band has ceased. 

Both members have been subject to solitary confinement only coming out after the ridiculous ask of a 30,000 dollar bail was issued. As it stands the band have been charged with blasphemy, advertising against the system, forming and running an underground label in the satanic rock and metal style and interviewing with forbidden radio stations and finally writing anti religious, atheistic, political and anarchistic lyrics. Essentially writing what any alternative band might be discussing in this modern world. 

With the uproar that the world is having with the acceptability of Muslims, surely it’s a bit of an paradox that the country are shutting down the band without any form of plea or any chance of freedom of speech. 

Currently the penalty for these ideas that we may find trivial can be as severe as torture and even in the worst case scenarios death. We will keep you updated as the story develops, such a shame in the day of 2016 a belief as backwards as this still exists.
