It’s only appropriate to include a red album in our Christmas album of the year countdown right? Well luckily this particular red album in question is phenomenal!

Amorphis – Under The Red Cloud

It does continue to amaze me how a band on a regular 2-year album cycle manages to continue to produce stunning albums, and not only that, but somehow make each album better than the last.

‘Under The Red Cloud‘ was an immense effort considering we thought Amorphis had hit perfection with their previous album ‘Circle‘. In that regard ‘Under The Red Cloud’ is jaw-dropping.

A diverse palette of gothic metal with intricately arranged elements to provide a distinct atmosphere for every track, every moment is fantastic, and the album is so complete that it very much is one of the few to justify spending good money on.

If this line of progression continues for Amorphis, their next album could be labelled the album of the century.
