It appears having cancer has hardly held legendary guitarist Tony Iommi back in pursuing musical projects, as he announced he has written some music for the hit US TV crime drama CSI.
Apart from preparing a new Black Sabbath album and teaching at a university, Iommi was asked to write some music for 1 episode of CSI that will be premiering next week in the USA. He explains more in his latest public update:
“People have been asking what exactly I’m doing at the moment. Well, I’m getting back in the studio, having tried to make myself rest after the tours. I’m writing, mostly just putting ideas down rather than complete songs.
“I like to create all sorts of moods with my music and then decide later how they might be used. One specific piece, though, is for the ‘CSI’ [‘Crime Scene Investigation’] TV series that will be aired in the U.S. on November 2nd.
“I was asked if I’d be interested, so I had a look at the footage and came up with an idea they seemed to like. It’s not very long, but it was different working with images rather than just music. I’d certainly be up for doing more.”
Great to see that Tony is up and running, and not even age will hold him back from keeping busy. Hopefully all his current endevours won’t take too much time out of writing the new (and possibly final) Black Sabbath album. If you are in the USA, tune in and let us know how the original music by the riffmaster sounds!
