Tom Delonge Out Of Blink 182

It wouldn’t be too far removed to say that, Blink 182 weren’t exactly doing anything new. Their hey day that was the nineties, speaking of teenage situations and toilet humour the band became one of the biggest pop punk bands the world has ever seen. With releases like Enema of The State and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket setting American Pie soundtracks for years to come.

Then band then opted for a more melancholic approach with their self titled Blink 182 album. Gone were the jump up and down screw you anthems and here were new whining sounds. By no means a bad album, simply a different direction. Blink 182 had changed. After that saw the release of Neighbourhoods, a pretty average new album that didn’t really excel the band any further as. Appearing at festivals all over riding off the coat tails of previous albums, you can easily say that the band was on its way out.

And now we have the final nail in the coffin. Tom Delonge our whiny bard has left the band. Originally being penned that the singer had decided himself to leave the group, it now transpires that it was through the very press releases we were all hearing about that the band ousted Delonge.

It’s worth remembering that this is not the first time that Delonge has left the band. Before the tragic airplane crash concerning Travis, Delonge left to form Angels And Airwaves before returning once again to Blink 182 to record Neighbourhoods. Adding more confusion into the mix previous to this statement that the band have let Delonge go, they received an email from the frontmans manager stating that “Tom.Is.Out”.

There has now been an open letter to Tom Delonge‘s fans posted from his Facebook, which you can read below, a long slog but explains some of the more grey areas.

With their appearance at Musink Tattoo Convention And Music Festival and an announcement of a new album, the band have stated that they will be appearing wih Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio filling in for Tom Delonge. Whatever has happened it doesn’t seem that Delonge will be performing with the band for a long time. A confusing story and a sad day for sure for all Blink 182 fans.
