Today Marks The Anniversary Of Dimebag Darrell

Today marks the anniversary of metal’s truly great tragedies, the assassination of  Dimebag Darrell Abbott. Not only is today the day that our guitar hero was tragically taken from us, but it is also the tenth year anniversary. Not only being the nicest man in the metal world, Dimebag was an absolutely phenomenal guitar player. Even from a young age the guitarist was on absolutely top form, overshadowing even the most daunting of competition.

Hailing from Texas, he created one of the most influential bands in metal. Pantera. Known throughout the world, almost every single metal heads iPod and essential in any  self respecting metal bar’s jukebox the band’s influence can be felt throughout the entire metal community. Had it not been for Dimebag and his talents, many of the fantastic up and coming guitarists of our day and age may not have ever picked up the guitar. We chose just one of the many many fantastic songs the man helped chisel into the ten commandments of metal but “Floods” just seemed apt.

With tributes all over the world we thought that it would only be fitting for us to honour the great man, not only for his guitar ability but for his short time as a person. Always happy, always doing anything his way Dimebag truly was an inspiration to us all, whatever age you are, however long you’ve been listening to metal. From the greats who cite him as true influence, to his humble friends and to new metalheads perhaps even just discovering Pantera and Dimebag‘s legacy only today we salute you all.
