For those who might have been on the fence about the band’s brand new album Phenotype, I can safely say that there is nothing to worry about. 

With there being a vast amount of time between the band’s last release Singularity and their new record Phenotype its understandable that one might be skeptical of the band and their output. The first half of their double album set to be release this February is comprised of shorter songs where the more progressive Genotype will consist of the one song. Add to the fact that the line up has also changed, previously we saw the first example of the new Textures sound with “New Horizons” and now the band continue to floor us with the second release “Illuminate The Trail“. Longer than its predecessor the song brings together the various different eras that the Dutch band have gone through. The heavier leanings of Silhouettes is present with the more Progressive mindset of Singularity all the while remaining with its own identity. Aside from the song being a fantastic amalgamation of the band’s and their stages it has some fantastic solo’s which has previously been slightly uncharted territory for the band.
