An Interview With : Trevor Strnad (The Black Dahlia Murder)

Poised to release their brand new album Abysmal, The Black Dahlia Murder have well and truly become one of the Death Metal elite. With the new album tackling uncharted territory for the band, along with reminding us just how reliantly devastating the band can be we were able to speak to macabre linguist Trevor Strnad. Speaking of Abysmal’s theme’s along the album featuring a small track by track description, along with what it was like for the band to perform out of their comfort zone on the Warped Tour and some good ol’ fashioned Death Metal. Keep an ear out for an announcement of some European tour dates coming in January!

Kicking the year off in fantastic style Ensiferum released their brand new album One Man Army. Having toured all over since it’s release the band began to hit up the festival circuit leading us to a warm Sunday afternoon where the band would be performing at UK Bloodstock Festival. Before their fitting brutal slot at the festival, we were able to speak to drummer Janne about what the band had been up since the release of the new album, why there has mostly always been a progressive epic as the final track and what Ensiferum have their sights set on.

Seemingly one of the first things that people notice about Alunah is the presence of their female singer Sophie Day. Regardless of the fact that the band have a front woman, this shouldn’t be a point of interest. Putting on an absolutely brilliant show on Sunday’s instalment of Bloodstock the band are forging forward in the Doom arena. With a UK tour scheduled for later this year, Alunah will be a name that you will definitely be hearing more of in 2016. Able to chat with both Soph Day and Dan Burchmore we spoke about what it’s like to be performing for the first time at Bloodstock this year among many other things.

Performing at this year’s Bloodstock we said our hello to Hang The Bastard, previously releasing their brand new album Sex In The Seventh Circle the band took Bloodstock by storm. Hailing from London the band decided to make a weekend of their appearance at this year’s Bloodstock. We were lucky enough to be able to speak to Hang The Bastard main man Simon Grubb about how their year has been so far, what we might be seeing from the band at a later date and more info on their brand new album!

Perhaps not exactly a characteristic of the classic Black Metal make up, the sun was relentless in 1349’s extraordinary set. Giving the band a little time to cool off we were able to speak to Seidemann about 1349 and it’s happenings. Releasing Massive Cauldron Of Chaos last year the band have seemingly soared since, among touring all over, the band have also made time to create their own brand of beer, which Seidemann fills us in on along with answering some questions on the band and what might be headed their frost bitten way.

A Bloodstock Interview With : Ivar Bjornson (Enslaved)

Releasing their brand new album In Times earlier this year Enslaved embarked on an extensive US tour, working the festival circuit we saw the Norwegians appear at this year’s Bloodstock Festival. After a fantastic set we were able to speak to the theoretical mastermind behind the new album Ivar Bjornson. With our conversationg ranging from such simple things as writing processes of the record to a lot more philosophical and theoretical answers that question the idea of time itself.
