Progressive rock’s renaissance man announced his return earlier this month with Steven Wilson‘s new album. Entitled Hand.Cannot.Erase. , the album will be a concept based around a documentary. A woman, no social outcast, with a lively social life, personable and friendly dies and no one knows until three years on. Sure to be an interesting idea for Wilson to take on we are now being given more pieces of the puzzle. Releasing both the artwork and track listing for the forthcoming album might help us unravel the mystery.
Steven Wilson, notorious among Opeth fans for being Mikael Akerfeldts unsung sidekick. Producing some albums since their eponymous Blackwater Park breakthrough but most importantly always being in Akerfeldt’s mind throughout the writing process. His methods are genius and although as you can see below the tone of Hand.Cannot.Erase. seems to be one that is slightly less dreary than the fantastic The Raven That Refused To Sing. Using long time friend and photographer Lasse Hoile as the cover art’s creator rather than of previous works of Hajo Mueller, I’m sure that the genius behind it will be revealed once the album is released. It is also worth noting that the album will contain eleven tracks with most being around the five minute mark, save for two more progressive pieces for all you prog nerds out there!
Compromised of the same line up of the previous critically acclaimed album, guitarist extraordinaire Guthrie Govan, drummer Marco Minneman, on bass guitar Nick Beggs and Adam Holzman. Now including a female vocalist, presumably to echo the concept of the album Ninet Tayeb, its sure to be a winner. Check out the artwork below along with the track listing and make sure to catch them on the Hand.Cannot.Erase. tour this coming March in the U.K. and April in Europe.
