Probably one of the Iowa nontet’s most important performances, their headline performance at their own festival was not only a success but included debut’s of some of the new material from .5: The Gray Chapter. Along with choice cuts that hadn’t been performed after a long while off their entire discography, even though personally I think they could have played a little more material from the new album. Having just released their first album after six years following the trials and tribulations of the death of former band mate Paul Gray and the firing of Joey Jordison all eyes in the metal community seem to be on Slipknot. Not only are the band playing their own festival but the figures are set to ensure that .5: The Gray Chapter will in fact land at number 1 in the Billboard charts (100,000 copies), beating Neil Diamond and Annie Lennox. Whilst also being a victory for the metal scene Slipknot are once again proving to all nay sayers that Slipknot are potentially the biggest metal band in the world and for good reason. Their live reputation continues to uphold their legendary status ensuring that come next year we will all be treated to some phenomenal performances.
