Having previously teased fans with small snippets of new music, we can now finally hear a fully fledged track that will appear on the band’s brand new album. “Serpenticide” is a heavy, gritty sounding introduction to what the band will sound like eight years on. With scaling harmonies moving wrapping their hooks around the listener, the band include melody along with the slower tempo sections.
Then a blistering solo appears and sets the track to truly higher standards. Catching the listener off guard its an excellent example of what is to come from the new record, ending with a classic death metal style breakdown. It’s worth noting that the emphasis is very much on the vocals in terms of the production aesthetics, however they don’t hog the limelight. Gritty, devastating death metal, this is definitely going to be an interesting release. After eight years Skinless most certainly have still got it!
