Romanian Club Owners Charged With Manslaughter Following Blaze

On Friday 30th of November local band Goodbye To Gravity were performing inside the Romania club Colectiv when a pyrotechnic show caused a huge fire. Currently the death toll has been brought up to thirty two people with two hundred thereabouts in hospital.

It transpires that the night’s events, were as we thought not legal. For the size of the 400 capacity venue the club owners had dramatically oversold the venue for the particular night. As the band performed they also had a pyrotechnic display which, again due to the club’s size should not have been allowed but as the venue was aiming to keep down costs was put into use without the proper health and safety regulations.

The consequences speak for themselves, with thirty two people now pronounced dead after the fire there are a further sum currently in hospital in critical condition. With the oversold venue over capacity, for the amount of people inside the venue to work with the amount of emergency exits there caused a stampede of people simply trying to get out. The whole story is an absolute tragedy and hits home the fact that health and safety is truly there for a reason and should be paramount to any promoter regardless of what music.

Our sincerest condolences go out to everyone involved.
