Revocation Unleash “Madness Opus”

After having previously come back with a theatrical bang with Deathless off their forthcoming album of the same title, Revocation are not content with releasing but the one song and have now debuted “Madness Opus“. According to vocalist and guitarist extraordinaire the lyrical aspect of the song is a homage to one of Dave Davidsons favourite H.P. Lovecraft stories, “The Music Of Erich Zann“. Having played the track multiple times live on their recent tour with DevilDriver and had a raucous response the band have decided to release it next!

Being one of the grooviest songs the band has released, it seems that Revocation as a band have had a tune up. Trading in the usual double kick onslaught for a slower brooding feeling, drum powerhouse Phil Dubois really excels in the track. After the great self titled effort in 2013, their final release with Relapse, they have evolved into an even more forward thinking band than previous.

Whilst still retaining all their hallmarks that made them great, fusing different genres with athelitic guitar work, showcased here of course with the waltz like guitar solo. However they have also upped their game in terms of song writing. Leading for them to write interesting and technically challenging songs that don’t compromise musicianship for writing capability. Creating the dissonant riffs that trickle through the song’s chorus and the haunting final clean ring out.
