The festival announcements continue, although Download has begun to slip much farther into the mainstream than in previous years, it pales into comparison against Reading & Leeds. Although not classically a metal festival it seems that this year the organisers are trying to get their fingers in as many pies as possible. Booking Metallica as Saturday’s headliners and Limp Bizkit to close Friday’s proceedings on the smaller stage. The real attention lies on The Pit stage. Where newly announced Mastodon will be headlining Saturday, Refused will be headlining Sunday and New Found Glory on Friday.
The crying shame however is that Bring Me The Horizon are the opening act before Metallica. Potentially the biggest metal band of all time will be performing after hipster adoring wringers, who are now somehow revolutionaries. Predictable and although the band may be able to rouse their audiences, it irritates me personally that, Pierce The Veil or any band of that ilk are able to be above genuinely forward thinking bands like Gojira. Oh well just music for the masses as usual, as long as Bring Me The Horizon veer away from that U2 crap that was “Drown” then I mit have a shred of respect for them. lets all hope we aren’t subjected to a free copy of their new album then world over…
