One of the most influential movements of the 70’s Prog Rock has now finally gotten it’s own chart.

With many off shoots of the genre broadening Metal’s horizons it is unequivocally one of the most important genres in the expansion of Metal and music itself. Now for the first time ever Prog will receive a Top 30 chart detailing the various positions of new and old records.

As many of you no doubt know Prog is formed primarily of older material, nevertheless some of Metal’s genre defining acts are borne from it. UK kingpins Tesseract for example, North Carolina’s Between The Buried And Me, Animals As Leaders.

It’s an exciting time to be fan of Prog with it being  the healthiest state it has ever been with all these fantastic bands releasing new material. Even Iron Maiden have gone into it with their brand new double album featuring a hallmark of the Prog genre a twenty minute Odyssey!
