When artists are labelled ‘ambient metal’ you would generally think that it would be music with a lot of synths with effect-layered guitars and drums driving them. This generally seems not to be the case with the standard apparently set by Burzum’s prison albums, and it is ok to make an dark, concept-inspired, atmospheric synth album now and label it ‘ambient metal’. I’m not so sure about that, but let’s get to Wolves in the Throne Room.
Overkill Add To Their Armory
Classic thrash band Overkill have released their latest lyric video for their new song entitled “Armorist”. Its got everything that we have come to know and love from Overkill, soaring, ever so slightly cheesy vocals, that killer signature D.D. Verni bass sound and of course with most metal riffs. Overkill always seem to get a bad wrap, although they weren’t at the forefront of the thrash metal movement in the 80’s they damn sure helped it along,too many people seem to forget just how much of a great band they were.
