Chances are if you’re a fan of Nile then you will definitely be liking what the drummer is going to be putting out later this year. Though his band might be releasing a brand new album later on in the year, the drummer’s eyes are set on his solo work for now. Premiering a brand new track from the forthcoming solo album entitled “Shall Rise/Shall Be Dead“, it epitomises what the drummer is known for.
Adding a small easter egg to the new song, we see the cameo of Rotting Christ guitarist lend his virtuoso guitar talents with a solo midway through the track. Kollias states :
“My song ‘Shall Rise/Shall Be Dead’ hits home at the 260bpm range. It is not too easy, but a lot of fun to play and one of my favourites from my album. I really like that tempo range, which I always thought fits my drumming style well, but I also love the aggression that comes out of this song. It is not just the drumming that does it, but the riffs… the vocals…. or all as one.”
Though the drummer may be known for his inhuman ability with speed, the song has a nice ambience to it. Differentiating itself enough to form its own identity, yet will have fans of the mans band loving every minute. There are even more surprises to come, with the appearance of a total of eleven tracks with a whole host of guest guitar solo’s along with two different vocalists on the albums bonus tracks. The man explains that the reason that he has recorded the album is simply because of the fans. Due by popular demand the singer is able to forge a path for himself.
