Long before the age that we now live in where people can distribute their own music as they please. Soundcloud’s exist and Spotify’s run rampant there used to be a much harder way to acquire music. In the tape trading days of old (the 80’s) one record label stood alone. Music For Nations. Now breaking the silence they return, being responsible for some of the most important music in metal. Metallica‘s eponymous Kill ‘Em All, Slayer‘s Show No Mercy, Exodus‘ Bonded By Blood to name but a few in the early years. The tradition carried on with Paradise Lost‘s Draconian Times, Tool‘s Aenima and finally Opeth‘s Blackwater Park these are some of the best releases of our former years.
The label triumphantly announces their return with a whole host of reworked reissues planned throughout the year. Some being the aforementioned bands, others little gems yet to surprise us all. One thing this does mean though is that metal is still going strong! The fact that Music For Nations are able to bounce back in this day and age is a comforting thing, yes they offer a sense of nostalgia, but they also mention they will be issuing new material from newer bands. Getting back to basics, the way things were done in the days of old. Sometimes its good to be an anorak.
Check out the video of their return below, kudos for the Megadeth font!
