With this being their fourth album and first since 1996’s Feel Sorry For The Fanatic it seems that we have our come back sorted for this year. Every year, one band decides to return. Last year it was At The Gates with the stonking At War With Reality, the previous Carcass and it seems that 2015 is the year of Morgoth. Not exactly the biggest band in the world, the German death metallers released some excellent material that has become cult favourite among fans and now we finally get to here new music.
Not only releasing a single, the band also announce that they will be releasing an album this year! Entitled Ungod, if single “Black Enemy” is anything to go by then this will certainly be one to watch. Many of the hallmarks of nineties death metal are present, but what “Black Enemy” holds true is the elemet of groove. It’s an easily accesible death metal song that will have you banging your head for days! Very much similar to that Vader style gallop you most certainly should get your fill.
Morgoth states from their Facebook :
“After 18 years we can finally present a first glimpse at our new full-length album, Ungod! We started with the songwriting in January 2013 and finished the recording process by the end of December 2014. It was an awesome experience to go through the sometimes very complex and challenging process of writing and recording an album again.
Our goal was to present some real Morgoth-style Death Metal, which closes the gap between Cursed and Odium. We hope that we have achieved this goal and our supporters and friends will like the final outcome.”
Recorded at Sound Division Tonstudio by Jorn Michutta and Matthias Klinkmann the album is set for a March 30th release via Century Media Records.
