It seems that the popular music streaming service has patched up relations with a couple of labels…
Noticeably a few weeks ago metal fans reported that Victory Records entire back catalogue went offline. At roughly the same time all Decapitated albums released on Earache suffered the same fate.
While nothing has been solidified in terms of what was going on between the two, it was lightly phrased by Victory and Earache that is was a dispute over unpaid royalties, leading to Victory claiming that if it was not resolved it could have drastic consequences on the label.
Spotify have seemed to contain the fire and resolved the issues, as today you can find all the missing catalogue’s back online.
We know some of these things can look like heartless corporations, but credit to Spotify for taking a diplomatic approach to the issue and not causing a huge drama in the metal community!
