With the new season of Game Of Thrones fast approaching HBO and co have t together a great promotional move to create Catching The Throne Vol 2 an awesome idea for a mix tape. Featuring genres from metal to rap we see the likes of Estelle to Killswitch Engage. After being teased with snippets of Killswitch Engage‘s addition we can finally hear one track from the forthcoming compilation.

Mastodons, “White Walker” (it had to be really) is not quite what you would expect from the Atlanta four piece. Instead of bellowing of Troy Sanders we’re given the voice of drummer Brann Dailor, it also surprised me slightly. Being more rooted in folk than anything I would say, it’s not exactly what you think it would be. Yet it’s exactly what Mastodon would do. Taking a song and putting their inimitable spin on it. To make for a truly brilliant cover.

Catch The Throne will be released on March 17th through HBO and features music from the shows soundtrack along with the covers.
