Joey Jordison Had To Be Carried On Stage For Final Slipknot Performance

Following the emotional recount of why the drummer left Slipknot earlier this week at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods more details surrounding the drummer’s condition have surfaced.

Having had a form of multiple sclerosis Joey Jordison had been almost physically unable to play drums whilst still in Slipknot. Telling the public for the first time there have been more details surfacing regarding his last days with the band. After the announcement Metal Hammer went behind the scenes and spoke with Joey regarding his condition

Jordison stated :

He says: “It was at the end of the memorial shows we did for Paul Gray. We were in Canada, at the end of my last run of shows with Slipknot, and something happened to me but I didn’t know what it was. I was super ill.

“You can be sick and still play, but this was something I’d never felt in my life before. We found out what I have is transverse myelitis – a neurological condition that hits your spinal cord, and it wiped my legs out completely. It’s like having your legs cut off, basically.

“I played those last couple of shows and it scared the living shit out of me. I didn’t know what it was.”

“But I had to be carried to the stage. The pain was something I’d never experienced in my life before, and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.”

Despite his dire condition Jordison beat the disease and has now returned with two bandsq Vimic Sinsaenum and has since been back to kicking it behind the kit, no doubt an inspirational story the poor guy could have just been given a break. According to Metal Hammer more news will transpire behind the drummer’s condition in the coming days.
