Finally Job For A Cowboy are back on the scene, following a Facebook update from Mark Lewis a couple of months back, I had my radar set for the return of the cattle wrangling death metallers. After 2012’s fairly drastic change in sound on Demonocracy it seems that Job For A Cowboy have shed their deathcore roots. With their new album Sun Eater scheduled for a November release Metal Blade have been pretty quiet about this one…
Debuting a new song “Sun Of Nihility” opening with a progressive sounding clean section to be moved into the doom inducing verse, it’s clear that guitarist Tony Sannicandro is still very much firing on all cylinders, but now it seems that the band have caught up with him. Being more technically proficient this time around Nick Schendzielo’s bass guitar is not only now fretless but more importantly independent not having to rely on following guitar lines whilst drummer Danny Walker gives a more jazz style performance whilst still staying in the vein of tech death! Improving on that typical death metal sound that they were shaping on their previous record. Although this is only one song we’ve heard from the album, it’s sure to be a fantastic lesson on how you can truly evolve as a band.
Listen to Sun Of Nihility below, the album Sun Eater featuring production duties of Jason Suecof will be release November 11th via Metal Blade.
