Nightwish vocalist Floor Jansen, who has been juggling touring commitments with both her band and her solo career while being pregnant, has announced her withdrawal from immediate touring. Citing fatigue as a significant factor, she revealed that she was hospitalized after collapsing following a recent performance in Finland.
This decision affects Floor’s upcoming solo shows on July 6 and 8. In a heartfelt statement, Jansen disclosed that she has been battling fatigue for some time, which also led to Nightwish canceling their June 22 show in Oslo last month.
After receiving confirmation from doctors that her unborn child is healthy and that she doesn’t have any serious illnesses, Floor has chosen to prioritize the well-being of herself and her baby during the remainder of her pregnancy. She intends to focus on rest and recovery.
Here is her complete statement:
“Dear everyone,
It is with deep regret that I have to cancel my shows on the 6th and 8th of July. Unfortunately, my health is not in a good enough state to responsibly perform these shows. Following my last performance with Nightwish in Finland, I experienced extreme exhaustion, which resulted in my collapse and subsequent hospitalization. Medical professionals have confirmed that my baby is healthy, and I do not have any serious illnesses. However, the fatigue has reached a point where continuing to work is no longer viable. As a result of this, the show with Nightwish in Oslo had to be canceled three weeks ago.
I had hoped that I would regain enough energy to still deliver those anticipated solo shows in the Netherlands. Sadly, this is not the case. To ensure the well-being of both myself and my unborn child, I must prioritize rest and focus on my recovery during the final phase of my pregnancy.
Canceling a show breaks my heart! It is a decision I do not take lightly. However, I hope to welcome you back to one of my shows in the near future, in good health. For now, I must bid a temporary farewell to the stage and promise to take good care of myself and my little one.
With love, Floor”
