Though apparently this may have been an overreaction…
Alternative rockers Filter were due to play a show in Gothenburg, Sweden last night, but cancelled the show over an alleged death threat received against the band.
Read the original statement from the band below:
“Threats were made to Filter’s well being that were not taken lightly, we felt it necessary to cancel and are so sorry to our fans.
“After an extremely violent weekend in the United States, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the innocent victims in Orlando as well as Christina Grimmie’s friends and family.”
The club representative however stated that a musician was smoking inside the venue, and when asked to put it out, the musician refused. It was countered by the rep saying ‘the owners will kill us’.
Whatever happened, something got out of hand as the police were called. It was probably better off Filter didn’t perform, as there are a lot of conflicting reports about the threats made in the venue.
