Power metallers Dragonforce have released a stream of Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring of Fire‘ in anticipation of their new album, and it is surprisingly good!

We always love it when metal bands take on covers that are out of the normal parameters of metal, and Dragonforce have certainly done a great job here making it their own. Guitarist Sam Totman had this to say about the track:

“Just before the last Australian tour, our manager suggested it might be interesting to do a cover for the next album, something we’ve always refused even to consider. Because we had all had a couple beers every band member wrote down 3 songs each and we compared them all, just for a laugh. I wrote down ‘Ring Of Fire’ by Johnny Cash, an idea which the rest of the band loved, so we’ve Dragonforce-ized it!”

Dragonforce release their new album ‘Maximum Overload‘ on August 18th.
