This album cycle around, Dragonforce are taking all their gimmicks of the last 2 decades and turning them into art. This latest offering is a fine example.
Love em’ or hate em’, you have heard of Dragonforce. They were that band that got big off Guitar Hero, and they certainly have had no quarrel in exploiting that video game relation over the last 13 years since ‘Through The Fire And Flames’ came out.
As they have progressed their career, they have been synonomus with video games through the 8-bit style noises they churn off with their guitar solos, and their epic Final Fantasy battle-scene chord progressions. Somehow it’s held them in high regard over the years, even if they have lyrically gotten more serious.
Now Dragonforce have taken all of their assigned gimmicks and rolled them into one – a silly AOR style song, retro arcade visuals and one costume designer that never left 1991. It’s got fans demanding the release of an ‘Extreme Power Metal’ game for Mega-Drive, showcased on the new “Heart Demonlition” video.
