Cain’s Offering, the brainchild of iconic ex-Sonata Arctica guitarist Jani Liimatainen and current Stratovarius frontman Timo Kotipelto, received phenomenal response upon the real of their debut album ‘Gather The Faithful‘. It was hailed as a return to old school Sonata Arctica, and left fans wanting more of this seemed one-off side project. Finally after 6 years of pondering and being teased, a second Cain’s Offering album is official.

The new album will be called ‘Stormcrow‘, and is set to leave off from where the band started. That traditional Sonata sound that we have all come to miss! The band has not released a statement regarding the album announcement yet, but Japanese label Avalon has posted the details of the new album, which includes a couple of surprise new members to the band too. Jens Johansson of Stratovarius will take over keyboard duties from Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody’s Mikko Harkin, and Jukka Koskinen (Wintersun) will be replaced by Jonas Kuhlberg.

The album has a release date in Japan of April 29th. No word yet on the rest of the world’s release dates, this is likely in part to the album actually not having a European / North / South American label or distributor yet. We will keep you posted!
