Deftones shared a closer involvement than we thought on Friday night.
Scheduled to perform the day after The Eagles of Death Metal, Deftones had arrived early in France and like most bands decided to go out for their day off. Being part of the crowd in the horrific Bataclan incident the band have decided that they will be postponing their European tour. Understandably so after not only witnessing but being a part of the Bataclan massacre.
It has also been noted that Foo Fighters have also cancelled their upcoming Euro tour following the events. Stating that they want to get back to their loved ones, it is understandable. Not only that however among the dead, it was announced that Nick Alexander was killed that night. Known far and wide over the Metal lands and particularly in Britain the man was just a roadie being a merch guy at the time. Again it brings home the sadness felt throughout the Metal community this weekend. A tribute has been set up for Alexander and have already reached 50,000 pounds and are striving to make the entire affair a bigger thing in Alexander’s memory.
Once again the deepest condolences to everyone affected by Friday night terror attack, we hope that your memory lives on Nick Alexander. Rest in peace.
Here are the band’s statements
Foo Fighters
It is with profound sadness and heartfelt concern for everyone in Paris that we have been forced to announce the cancellation of the rest of our tour. In light of this senseless violence, the closing of borders, and international mourning, we can’t continue right now. There is no other way to say it. This is crazy and it sucks. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who was hurt or who lost a loved one.

Deftones
“Hello all- Much has been said, as well as seen, on every media outlet about the events in Paris. Some of us were in attendance at the Le Bataclan, and the rest of our family, just blocks away on this night. We have been to Paris many, many times, and we’ve had some of the most amazing shows in this tremendously electric city.
With this being said, and with our deepest condolences, love and respect to everyone affected, and to all of us who share this planet, we must return home to our loved ones. We will return when appropriate.
For ticket holders, we will have more information soon, so please hang tight.
Until then, please never forget the power of gathering, and one of the most unbelievable feelings of all: that P.M.A.
With much love and respect, Deftones“
