David Bowie Passes Away Age 69

A sad day for the world over.

Having just made our peace with the idea that Lemmy had indeed gone for his final great gig in the sky now we wake up to the news that legendary rock star in the truest sense of the world David Bowie has died. Quietly battling cancer for eighteen months sadly the man lost the fight and was pronounced dead.

I’m not going to pretend to be a huge Bowie fan because I wasn’t. In listening to Metal I simply didn’t give it a go, sad to admit that the man’s final release unveiled just this Friday 8th January I have discovered is an absolutely fantastic work. Having always been a fashion icon, from the days of Ziggy Stardust to the current state Bowie delivered art in its purest form. Pushing the boundaries of what was deemed to be conventional and quite simply put there will never be another like him. I know it isn’t strictly Metal but the man’s influence is so great that no doubt many of our incredibly influential Metal artists wouldn’t be where they are now without having heard the man’s inimitable voice. A man may last year’s but a legacy will last forever. A true artist until the very end.

I urge you all to listen to the man’s fantastic brand new record Blackstar.

Rest in Peace David Bowie.
