British heritage, among the David Attenboroughs and the Ian McKellen’s of the world, we have one band that seem to be adamant that they will not bend or break. With more line up changes than most bands will ever see Cradle Of Filth continue to soldier on, releasing details surrounding their brand new album Hammer Of The Witches.
Set for a July release via Nuclear Blast this will be the band’s eleventh album, the artwork that you can see above was created by the Latvian artist Athur Berznish and is very much in keeping with the classic Cradle Of Filth identity. The artwork for the album promises to be ” a lavish walkthrough of the lyricism”. Meant more as tabelau’s than the usual artwork. Some of the pieces are original specifically for the album and others are classic works from the artist that have been slightly tweaked to settle into the Cradle Of Filth image.
Berznish states :
“In terms of mood, I was looking for the inspiration of this set in the spirit of Faustian romanticism, the ambivalent art of renaissance that reanimated motives of pagan mythology after the Middle Ages, and, of course, the darkly beautiful and charming spirit of Goetia traditions that is filled with the atmosphere of hermetical rituals.”
Sounds like the combination of Cradle Of Filth and Berznish will be working in complete harmony. Though no word has been given on track listing for the new album, fingers crossed it strays from the Darkly Darkly era and moves more into the Nymphetamine age! I think the artwork for the cover is perfect, echoing the classic gothic style of the band with a slightly modern take.
