Exodus “Salt The Wound” With A Little Help

Legendary thrash metallers have unveiled one of their songs off their forthcoming album. The return of previous vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza is fantastic news for any Exodus fan and he hits every high note that you would want, my only gripe with the song however is when Metallica’s fabled lead guitarist enters the fore for his special guest solo. It is unmistakeably Kirk Hammett but its just so boring, all it is some wah work and in my opinion the songs strongest point is the rhythm, specifically after the solo where there is a great little bridge to get back to the verse. Either way thrash fans will be lapping it up, because its a great thrash metal song. “Salt The Wound“‘s big tag line is that it has a guest solo by Kirk Hammett. Now that’s fine and its probably a rather good marketing strategy, what with him having previously played in Exodus but don’t let it overshadow the song’s songwriting.

Unearth Release New Song “The Swarm”

Whilst it seems that most of the american metalcore bands are calling it a day after the recent announcement regarding both Chimaira and Shadows Fall throwing in the towel, Unearth have some different plans. Announcing the release of their new album Watchers Of Rule. This could be a slight evolution for the band, which is a good thing. Although the band know how to write the best metalcore there is, they have come very close to writing the same albums one after the other. That being said its not a ground breaking new sound they’ve tapped into, but baby steps are being taken. Mark Lewis was on production duties for this album as well as having the position of bass player filled in by a certain Mark Morton from everyone’s favourite Lamb of God, check it out below.
