After having stunned us all previously with their first single “The Great Mistake”, progressive death metal upstarts Black Crown Initiate have released a second song off their forthcoming album The Wreckage Of Stars. Alliteration abound “Withering Waves” is the new track and seems to follow the previous sound that BCI have indeed carved out for themselves but see’s a little more virtuosity with some technical riffs moving through to a soaring chorus tailing off with acoustic guitar reminding me of an almost folky Nevermore type sound. Soon to be heading out with Rivers of Nihil it seems that they will be one of the forerunners for debut of the year. With an intriguing set up and a different take on a genre that can be easily over saturated Black Crown Initiate will definitely be one to look out for.

From their new live album and DVD that will be released in a couple of weeks,  Meshuggah have let us all have a look at what we can come to expect from the Swedish bunch. Celebrating their 25th anniversary as a band not only are they releasing The Ophidian Trek their new live out put made up of 2 CD’s and 2 DVD’s which will also be on BluRay format , they will also be re-issuing their phenomenal ep “I“.

Death metal rumblers Abysmal Dawn have posted a new studio update chronicling their recording of their new album Obsolescence. Recorded at Trench Studios where we have mastermind Charles Elliott laying some of the riff work and a super tight solo at the end of the video, take note guys although Abysmal Dawn haven’t released any material since Levelling The Plane of Existence their groove oriented death metal is second to none. A death metal band that has focused solely on writing some fantastic songs, although they have all demonstrated that they have the chops to match any of the new breed of the death metal elite.
