Welcome back! After the blissful slumber that was Christmas we slowly but surely entered the new year. Wiping away the cobwebs of 2015 we greet the new year with a decidedly frosty hello. Penned for last September, Abbath was set to return with Primordial and Conan. Owing to some difficulties the show was instead postponed to banish the January blues. All the while our Death Metal deviants Benighted and The Black Dahlia Murder were scheduled to perform separate shows in the same area. Deciding to combine both shows into one mega show, minus Conan, we welcome the first gig of 2016.
Live Review: Tremonti
If you don’t know who Mark Tremonti is…well let’s just say I would be left with eyebrows raised. The famed guitarist is backed by a metal arsenal tonight as he brings his solo band to London, and showcases the 2015 album ‘Cauterize‘ that has been universally applauded by pundits.
Live Review: Liv Kristine + Valkyre
Fresh off an extensive European tour with Leaves’ Eyes, Liv Kristine continues to give us fans the full extent of her creative output by putting on a select few shows throughout the continent, showcasing her diverse solo career. Not only do we see the best of Kristine’s back catalogue, but a rare appearance by ex-Theatre of Tragedy frontman Raymond Rohonyi makes the show a special one…
Live Review: Nightwish + Arch Enemy + Amorphis
Here it is folks – the perfect metal trifecta at the end of the year in one of Europe’s most celebrated venues. To say this was a big show for these three bands would be an understatement, but Nightwish’s final show of 2015 and one-off UK date proved to be an absolute spectacle and lived up amongst the massive Wembley performances of other bands past. Just how did they accomplish that?
Live Review: Accept + Hell
We Accept that all Hell broke loose in London…I really do apologise for these terrible puns, but rest assured…the old school line-up tonight made for a truly fantastic show!
Live Review : Bloodbath – Aborted and Ancient Ascendants
Returning back to the fray with last year’s effort Bloodbath kicked the metaphorical dirt back into our faces. Enlisting Paradise Lost vocalist Nick Holmes to act as the band’s vocal pariah the band crafted an instant classic. Sporadically coming together due to the difficult logistical element surrounding the band, London was under communion for what would be a truly bloodthirsty night. Celebrating the most unholy of trinities Camden’s Electric Ballroom saw its floodgates open for the arrival of Death Metal’s filthy heroes.
Live Review : Sikth – Hacktivist and Destrage
The history behind the Watford bunch is illustrious to say the least. Pioneers of a genre now commonplace among the Metal community SikTh are in every sense of the word unique. Leaving their imprint upon the Metal community long after they had dissolved, the band at long last broke their silence last year announcing a reunion performance. Thrusting themselves back into the fray the band decided to shake 2015 up by releasing new material. Originally penned as an EP the record slowly materialised to a mini album, a perfect reintroduction to a band as infamous as their history. Celebrating their new landmark the band embarked on a UK tour culminating in the capital.
Live Review : Carnifex – Within The Ruins – Fallujah and Boris The Blade
Ten years on and Carnifex return to London to celebrate their ten year anniversary. Entitled the Decade of Despair tour the band have become a hallmark in the world of Deathcore and tonight will prove that they have definitely earned their stripes. With a new album set for a spring release next year the band are ushering in a new era of Carnifex. However before we can get to the meat and potatoes we welcome some fantastic support romight.
