The Metalist caught up with British metal’s dark saint Dani Filth. We asked about the ‘Golden Gods’, and of course the ‘Hammer of the Witches‘.
In an enticing interview we learn about the underlying themes and writing process of the album that has already seen promise as one of the most riveting Cradle of Filth albums yet…and of course shared a bit of banter about Dani’s presentation at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. Read an excerpt from the interview below, and listen to the entire interview at the bottom of the page!
So did you manage to meet up with any of Cradle’s heroes or influences at the Golden Gods [awards] last night?
Umm…Babymetal! [laughs] Yea I photobombed them. I did a Kerrang meet on Thursday with a few people, well there was only a handful of people I knew and the only reason they talked to me because I was in their age group.
That’s cool! So because you’ve met them all before now it was like a meeting of friends?
Well I spent most of the night getting made up, so I missed a lot of it…but I did see a lot of people – Mike Muir, that was great – and At The Gates!
They all put on fantastic shows as well!
I didn’t get to see either of them! I am actually such a fan of Suicidal…and I’ve missed them five times!
Oh my god, five times?!
I’ve been to see them five times and I’ve missed them. First time was at the Marquee Club [London] and I got so drunk as I was like 15, I missed them because I was being sick in the road. Then I went to see them on the Clash of Titans – they opened for Megadeth, Slayer and Testament – and the queue was so bloody long by the time I got to the front Testament were on. The rest of the times were festivals and we were always getting made up or doing interviews…
