An Incineration Interview With : Ashmedi (Melechesh)

Whilst Camden was busy being battered with freezing moons and frosty tides one man was thinking of something a lot hotter. Releasing brand new album Enki this year Melechesh mark their return after a five year absence. We were able to speak to Ashmedi, the man behind the myth’s to speak about what the themes of Enki revolve around, returning after five years and why if his house was burning down he would take nothing… The answers might surprise you.

What exactly is meant by the title Enki?

Enki is the god of the gods or the king of the gods. The creator of mankind, I like that title just something surpeme within a mythological point of view but there is also more to it. There’s also the pseudo scientific idea that extra terrestrials came and advanced civilizations. I play around a lot with words you know? But I am very interested in the origins of civilization how they started.

As you say you’re interested in the beginning the origins things like that, is it also kind of spiritual as well?

Yeah, there’s an element of philosophy, spirituality but it’s very abstract, because I don’t have any absolute answers, nobody does! Questioning, reflecting…

So how was the writing process for the album…

This is just an excerpt of from our chat with the incredibly charming Ashmedi, listen to the full things below on our Soundcloud!
