We have heard recently that Viking metal premiers have wrapped up touring for a bit, and are focusing on releasing a new album. However in a shock statement today it has been revealed that Amon Amarth drummer Fredrik Andersson has decided to part ways with the band after 17 years behind the throne.
It does not sound like there is any bad blood, but little detail has been revealed about the circumstances surrounding the departure. The brief statement was given here:
“Fredrik has been an important part of AMON AMARTH’s development since he joined the band in 1998 and we wish him all the best for the future. We are currently in the process of writing the new album, but at the moment there is no replacement for him.”
We will update you with more details as they emerge, but it is certainly a sad day to see a member of such a prolific band depart. Odin speed Fredrik!
