Behind door 11 comes a not so well known band, but every bit deserving of our album of the year shortlist…
Saurom – Sueños
A band that has been dear to me for many years changed their style with their previous effort which was met with more than a few raised eyebrows, including my own. The band opted for a more simpler, catchier folk metal style as opposed to their heavier, more experimental sound of old.
With ‘Sueños‘, Saurom went the distance to ensure fans of new and old would appreciate their songwriting abilities. While it’s incredibly cliché to say the album is a mix of new and old – it’s difficult to describe it any other way. It’s absolutely seemless however, and the 27 songs on this double album are works of art.
It’s very accessible to those who have not heard of Saurom before, and the more I have listened to ‘Sueños‘ the more I have fallen in love with it!
