It seems to be that a running trend at this year’s Bloodstock saw some classic veterans return but many new bands perform at the festival for the first time. Among others Destrage fell into said category, bringing their zany brand of mad Metal to the festival we were able to speak to both Ralph DiGioia and Gabriel Pignata before the tent was hit with their unpredictable bursts of energy. Speaking about the band’s brand new album Are You Kidding Me? No. What it’s like to be a Metal band in the Italian Metal scene and the band’s first time over in the UK, welcome to weird and wonderful world of Destrage.

So how has the year been so far for Destrage, the last six months what have you been up to? 

Ralph : We’ve played a lot, we actually promoting our last album which was out in 2014 through Metal Blade Records. Are You Kidding Me? No. We had a tour with Protest The Hero in November a European tour we didn’t come here in the UK, which was too bad! We play a lot around Italy

Gabriel : We also played in Japan in February! For the second time.

Ralph : Oh yeah you are right! So we are going to promote this album until s year then, actually we’re working on the new one so.

Are you currently working on it now? 

Gabriel : We are starting on it now.

Ralph : We just started three months ago,

Ok, so do you write when you are off of the road or on the road?

Ralph : Off of the road, it’s a bit harder for us. We’re not nerdy enough to go with all the computers, it’s not that easy! 

Can you tell us bout the album title? 

Ralph : Sure! Well, let’s start from the beginning… It comes from a story that Fede the drummer told us. There was this guy, he was very strange, a crazy man and his father was always around in his boxers. So he said wait, can I take a picture with you? No wait! He went into his house, he put on a jacket and came out and said ok now I’m ready! He took the picture and he said what the fuck?! Are you serious? So Are You Kidding Me? No. Hahahaha! So it started from that we used this into a lyrics and our music if you listen to the album you can say what the fuck? There’s a trumpet thing our answer will always be No.
