Five Of The Most Metal Moments And Characters In Game Of Thrones

Winter Is Leaking… But seriously, today marks the return of one of the biggest franchises ever to grace television. HBO’s Game Of Thrones is truly astonishing, with some episodes costing more than one million. Let that sink in for a minute, one million dollars for one episode… Though irregardless of how much the show rocks, it is undeniably the most metal tv series of all time. So we have put together five moments where both character and situation are as metal as they come! Note, there will be spoilers, though surely by now someone has spoilt all of Season 5 already…

WARNING NSFW AND SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

The Mountain – Crushing Oberyn

Brutal

One of the centerpieces of the final stages of Season 4 is the incredible fight against the destructive force that is the mountain. With Tyrion Lannister on trial, a victor volunteers himself to fight for his honour. Though he might be doing this as a good gesture, Oberyn is also aiming to avenge his sister who was raped by The Mountain. It all goes so well for the Viper, rooting for Oberyn, but as the saying goes, pride often comes before a fall. Or in this case before the Mountain knocks all of your teeth and and crushes your skull with his bare hands… Metal.

Khal Drogo – Vesyrys Golden Crown

Viserys

Nearing the end of the first season we see the true potential that our Targaryen princess will be bestowing upon the world. However, before that happens there is a small hiccup of her evil, twisted and truly bonkers brother, Viserys. Wanting to have an army to conquer all of Westeros the brother offers Daenerys as a wife to Khal Drogo and states that he would let an army rape his sister if it meant that we would be able to conquer. Shortly afterwards, his request for a golden crown is granted as Drogo pours molten hot metal all over his head, crowning him king of nothing.

The Red Wedding – Everything

This next one is definitely a Cannibal Corpse album just waiting to happen. Upon finding out that Robb Stark has in fact betrayed Lord Greyjoy, the entire Stark family are invited for a red wedding. Thinking that the king has taken bygones for bygones, the king arrives with his new queen. Shortly before the sounds of the Lannister song ring out and all hell breaks loose. Pregnant women are stabbed, mothers are murdered and the jewel in the bloodsoaked crown? Our hero has his direwolves heads lopped off and shoddily stitched on his body and paraded around. Woah.

White Walker’s -Baby Sacrificing

White Walker

As we trudge through the chilly frost bitten season 4 we find out even more to do with the mysterious White Walker‘s that wander beyond the wall. Finding out that the worst has happened and that Gilly‘s new born is actually a son. We then later find out that Craster has been sacrificing any children that are male to the White Walker‘s. Though it may not be as bloody as some of the previous entries, its just as terrifying! Not to mention, the White Walker‘s are one of the most metal looking characters there are in the series.

Theon Greyjoy – Ramsay’s Torture

Greyjoy

Truly one of the most horrific sections of the series so far, that will of course be but a footnote in brutal death metal bands epilogues. The emasculation of Theon Greyjoy, the sadistic Ramsay Snow, essentially dehumanizes the former lord by torturing him, cutting him, hurling abuse and eventually, taking his manhood… That’s just not cool. Not before tricking him into thinking that he will in fact be freed though its a red herring and actually he has led him straight back to his doom. Having had all this done to him renders him almost feral turning the man that used to be into a cowering, fearful creature named Reek. Brutal.

Game Of Thrones returns tonight for its fifth season and is sure to be the only thing people are talking about this week! That is if you haven’t seen it already!

Oh and not forgetting “Hodor”…
