With yet another ‘reunion’ tour coming up for alternative-rock legends System of a Down, a lot of people have become understandably anxious as to whether the band will indeed record another full-length album. Lots of hints in recent interviews, but lot’s of them double-edged.

Finally it seems that there is a confirmation that a new album is on the way after bassist Shavo Odadjian dropped a massive hint in a recent interview with Madcap Music Review. When asked about potential new music Odadjian replied:

“Yeah, there’s a very good chance. I don’t have a date. We’ve already gone. We’ve written some songs. We’re keeping it to ourselves. We’re getting back to the bullshit of being together.”

Other members of the band have veered away from promise of a new album, under the general premise that there are internal difficulties within the band. Of course nothing is certain until it’s certain, but the recent comments provide much more promise than the last 10 years have combined!

If the band really are going into the studio, we could see a new System album as early as next year! (Cue squeel). That is of course unless it turns into another ‘Chinese Democracy‘
