Earlier this year we had a small list from Nuclear Blast of what new releases to be expected, courtesy of Carcass we know now that Slayer will definitely release their new album this year. However before that begins the band have decided to make Record Store Day that much more special if you’re a Slayer fan. Releasing a brand new 7″ with a new track “When The Stillness Comes” along with a b-side of a live performance of “Black Magic” from their performance at Wacken last year. The 7″ will be very limited, only 5,000 copies made. However this all would point to the fact that Slayer will be releasing material sooner than we think.
A good way to promote the band on Record Store Day (April 18th), the band will be a buzz word of sorts, along with multiple festival appearances throughout the summer it would be highly likely that we would be looking at a June release from the thrash titans. Although we could be wrong. With this being the first album since the death of long time Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman and the first with Dave Lombardo it will be interesting to see if there is some experimentation. Now having Exodus guitarist Gary Holt in the band it might add a new dimension to the bands sound. Either way we will be finding out sometime this year!
Look out for Slayer‘s 7″ on Record Store Day April 18th whilst waiting for their brand new album from new label Nuclear Blast!
