Something German power metallers Majesty would be proud of – a country with actual Metal Rule.

It has emerged that metalhead and Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo will be running for president in his native Indonesia.

Supringly Mr. Widodo has been tipped to win the election, topping opinion polls throughout the country and being the favourite amongst Indonesia desite not formally announcing his candidacy.

When asked about his preference in music Mr. Widodo responded:

“I listen to loud metal songs, from Metallica to Led Zeppelin, to Napalm Death… because rock is my passion.”

A concert goers in Jakarta attendeding a Metallica show spoke:

“He is different from other powerful figures who don’t care about ordinary people.”

Metal has become quite a dominant force in Indonesia, as evident from Sam Dunn’s documentary ‘Global Metal’ where he interviewd numerous metal fans and bands from Jakarta. We very much look forward to see how this story develops, and what the outcome of metal politics might look like!
