Metallica’s ‘Lulu’ Had Incredibly Poor Sales

In what is the ‘shocker’ of the day, Metallica’s single collaboration with Lou Reed, ‘Lulu‘ has been revealed that sales of the single struggled and are still struggling.

Three years after it’s release, it has been revealed that the single only managed to sell 35’000 copies. This is disastrous for a band of Metallica’s caliber, but let’s face it, ‘Lulu‘ was just awful. Whoever at the label gave that a go is probably faced some serious criticism as the hostile response to the record poured in.

Looking at the comparison to other Metallica releases, their latest studio album ‘Death Magnetic‘ sold close to 500’000 albums in just 3 days after it’s release, and ‘Lulu‘ just a hair fraction of that number in over 3 years. Nobody can say that people aren’t buying Metallica records.

The scathing reviews earned Metallica a low-point in their career, but they are likely to pick this up with a new studio album in the works. The pressure is on to make another legendary album!
