It seems like touring Nuclear Blast bands aren’t having the best of times touring this week, as now electro metallers Deathstars’ bus has caught fire on their European tour…
On Friday label mates Decapitated we’re involved in a serious collision in the USA and now Deathstars have suffered a bus incident. The band were driving through the Austrian Alps when they noticed flames rising from their bus about 8am on Saturday en route to Italy. Thankfully the band are OK, but will have to cancel their Italian shows. The band recall the incident:
“It only by a stroke of luck that we got out of the bus in time, we could have died in there. Luckily, some of us were awake when the incident happened, had we been stuck in the tunnel at the time of the explosion, we would have run the risk of everything becoming one big puff of smoke and a truck slamming into the bus. It could have been a disaster.”
The bands instruments and equipment have been destroyed in the fire, but will continue the tour with their next scheduled stop in Munich. A shame for Italian fans, but we’re sure they will reschedule the cancelled shows. Singer Emile Bergh emphasised how close the incident was to being so much worse:
“It was really extremely, extremely close, and it could have been much worse, imagine the whole damn bus catching fire while you are sitting inside it, and then it explodes. We literally had gotten out with seconds to spare, since the incident happened just outside the tunnel.”
We are happy all are OK and we hope the drama hasn’t caused too much stress on the band.
