It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since Metallica’s first feature film was released, but alas the band are celebrating it’s anniversary by re-releasing a special edition of the film ‘Some Kind of Monster‘.
The new edition will feature a 25-minute follow up piece to the film that includes an interview with former guitarist Dave Mustaine. That should be very interesting since Mustaine and Metallica have never really been on the best of terms!
Recapping the film, it takes an insight into the band’s process of recording the ‘St. Anger‘ album, their first in 6 years at the time. As the band struggles to deal with personal issues haunting them during the album creation process the documentary takes a few interesting twists and turns. Now it is being re-released, the band had this to say:
“Last week we celebrated the ten year anniversary of LiveMetallica.com and we’re back today with another milestone announcement, this time the re-release of our film Some Kind Of Monster on November 24, 2014. The film will be available digitally and via Video On Demand for the very first time and for those of you who still like to have one to hold in your hands, there will be two-disc Blu-Ray and DVD sets at your favorite retail outlets and in the Metallica.com store.
“A lot has happened since 2004 and we’ll bring you up to speed by including the feature Metallica: This Monster Lives, a 25-minute follow-up piece filmed at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013 during the release of our second film, Metallica Through The Never. It includes interview footage with us along with directors Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky and looks at the decade since the original release of the film. This feature along with the full film and all the extras from the original 2005 DVD release will be included on the Blu-ray and DVD. This is also that the first time the film will be available on Blu-ray. Metallica: This Monster Lives will also be available along with the original film on the digital releases.”
An essential for any hardcore Metallica fan!
